Uric acid is a harmful compound that can accumulate in the joints and form painful crystals which are the main cause of gout. Gout is an inflammatory disease and a type of arthritis which affects the joints and can make them swollen and inflamed. It is more common among the elderly and can be quite painful, even making you unable to move.
Besides the joints, gout can develop in the elbows, ankles and shoulders. Doctors usually recommend NSAIDs to treat the problem, but you should know that there are many natural remedies which can also help. Gout may be caused by the following factors:

- Frequent consumption of foods rich in purines such as red meat
When you consume red meat or similar purines-rich food, the body tries to flush away the excess proteins. The proteins are usually removed through sweat and urine, but once they accumulate in the body, they are quite difficult to remove and can form crystals in your joints. In order to prevent high levels of uric acid in your blood, you should ditch the foods rich in urines and eat a healthy and balanced diet and drink plenty of water as well.
You should introduce healthy foods such as cucumbers, zucchinis, strawberries, watermelon and squash in your diet. These foods are rich in water and essential nutrients which can reduce the levels of uric acid in your body. Of course, you should also drink plenty of water in order to assist the body in the elimination of uric acid.
Here are a few natural remedies which can also help in cases of gout:
Squeeze a few tomatoes in a glass and drink the juice twice a day to prevent the formation of uric acid crystals.
CABBAGE AND PARSLEY
Pour a pint of water in a pot and boil it, then add 50 gr. of cabbage, 3 parsley sprigs and ½ an onion in it. Simmer the mixture for about 15 minutes, then remove it from the heat and leave it to cool down. Next, add a bit of lemon juice in the beverage and drink it before lunch to eliminate the uric acid in your blood.
SOYBEAN AND ROSEMARY OIL
Mix 3 tablespoons of rosemary and soybean oil and massage the painful area 3 times per day.
Chop half an onion and add the pieces to a liter of boiled water, then add a bit of honey and drink the mixture 3 times per day.
MANGO, STRAWBERRIES AND CARROT REMEDY
Mix 4 carrots, 1 mango, 30 gr. of strawberries and a slice of pineapple in a smoothie maker, then drink the smoothie in the morning on an empty stomach to prevent the accumulation of uric acid in your joints.
Boil a corn cob in a pot of water for half an hour and drink the mixture 3 times per day to soothe the pain in your joints.
Boil 2 tablespoons of elderflower in a pot of water, then strain the mixture, add some honey and drink it every day.
Boil a handful of cranberries in a liter of water for 5-10 minutes, then drink the tea twice a day to eliminate the uric acid in your blood.
